Please use Back UP switch (jumper) in ON position on MP40.
But in case of Samsung I can imagine everything

DB Backup / Clear the Memory Feature


* OS7400 Memory
Since OS 7400 is
1) much bigger system than other systems such as OS 7200 and OS 500
2) user database size is increased to about 8MB,
3) SRAM size of 4MB is not enough for the database backup and the SRAM memory size needs to be doubled.

However, increase of SRAM memory capacity unfortunately causes some troubles such as
1) decrease of user database retention period less than 12 hrs,
2) lack of PCB space on MP40 by adding 6 pcs of SRAM and
3) about 4 times cost increase over NAND FLASH.

By those reasons, NAND FLASH memory is introduced although this may cause some confusion to existing customers such as installers and dealers who has been managing or dealing with OS 100/500/7200.

OS 7400 system consists of four kinds of memory-SRAM, DRAM, NAND FLASH and SM card. NAND FLASH and SM card are used to retain the user database like old systems such as OS 100/500/7200. See below for detailed capacity and use of each type of memory.

- DRAM of 128MB for working DB Area
- SRAM of 2MB for retention of Statistics, Alarms, Traffic reports and etc such as Incoming/Outgoing call logs, UCD Statistics, CAD data, Alarm Report of MMC 851 and Program logs of MMC 856)
- NAND Flash of 16MB for User Database Backup
- 32MB SM card for User Database Backup by MMC 815 and MP40/LP40 programs.

* System database backup methodology
Any database changes are initially reflected on DRAM and are saved to NAND FLASH.
1) 5 minutes after system powers on or restarts, system saves the database of DRAM to NAND FLASH.
2) Every 15 minutes after that, system checks up if the database of DRAM is changed and saves the database to NAND FLASH if the database is changed.
3) While the programming using Phone or Web MMC, system does not save the database of DRAM to NAND FLASH until database checkup time reaches to next cycle.
4) System immediately saves the database of DRAM to NAND FLASH whenever technician sets “ENABEL TECH. PROG” to “DISABLE”.
5) System immediately saves the database of DRAM to NAND FLASH whenever “KMMC LOCK OUT TM” expires.
6) System immediately saves the database of DRAM to NAND FLASH whenever WebMMC is disconnected from system.
7) System starts after checking up the database of DRAM and saving it to NAND FLASH whenever system restarts by MMC 811.
However, when you reset the system by Power On and Push button on MP40, NAND FLASH retains 2 most recent databases.
9) It takes about 30 seconds to save the database of DRAM to NAND FLASH.
Note) The changed database is not saved if the technician resets the system by Push button reset or Power on Reset while this period.
10) SM LED on MP40 will be blinking while the database of DRAM saves to NAND
FLASH.

* How to clear backup database from NAND Flash.
1) CLEAR MEMORY option in MMC 811 (MMC 830 will still be retained)
2) By turning system on with Memory Backup Switch to OFF position.
Note) The backup database on NAND FLASH is not cleared when technician turns system on with Memory Backup Switch to ON position although he moves Memory Backup Switch to OFF position and to ON again.

* Other General rules
1) Whenever the system restarts by MMC 811, Power ON Reset and Push button reset on MP40,
- The system comes up with the default database if NAND FLASH does not contain any databases which are saved before system restarting.
- The system comes up with the default database and clears the all the data on NAND FLASH if the Memory backup switch sets to OFF position.
2) When country is changed by either MMC 812 or DIP switch setting, the system comes up with the default database.
